Linda Black-Kurek, CPA, MHA:
Linda Black-Kurek, CPA, MHA is President of LBK Health Care, Inc., a certified public accounting firm specializing exclusively in accounting and reimbursement services for the long-term health care industry. Ms. Black-Kurek is also President of Liberty Health Care Corporation, a nursing home management and consulting company, where she owns and operates 15 Liberty Nursing Centers located in Ohio.
Ms. Black-Kurek has over 20 years of experience in health care accounting, auditing, and reimbursement. She specializes in Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement and financial modeling for long-term care facilities. With a focus on results, Ms. Black-Kurek has successfully assisted facilities in turnaround situations, strategic planning, and operational budgeting. She was previously with an international Big-Five accounting firm where she was designated a national industry specialist in health care and was Vice President of Finance for a multi-facility long-term health care organization.
Ms. Black-Kurek graduated summa cum laude from the University of Colorado with a Master of Science degree in Health Administration. She graduated summa cum laude from Wright State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication. She has also completed the Executive Graduate Program in Healthcare Financial Management at The Ohio State University.
Ms. Black-Kurek is a past member of the Executive Board of the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants and is past Chairman of the Health Care Committee. She is currently appointed to the Nursing Facility Transition Study Council created by the Ohio Legislature and the Ohio Department of Human Services Nursing Facility Direct Care Advisory and Payment Committees. Ms. Black-Kurek is Chair of the Payment for Services Committee and South Regional Trustee to the Board of Directors of the Ohio Health Care Association, where the firm is a Champion Partner. The firm is also a member of the Association of Ohio Philanthropic Homes and Housing for the Aging, the Miami Valley Long Term Care Association, and the American Health Care Association. Ms. Black-Kurek has developed and presented numerous seminars for the long-term care industry in the areas of accounting, reimbursement, finance, RUGs III and the case mix system, and quality indicators.
